How Losing Her Career Led to a Business That's Changing the Way We Self-Care

Posted by Vanessa Wallace on

After having my second baby, I was excited to return to my career. Maternity leave gives you time with your children, but for me I was so excited to get back to my 'old' self. Unfortunately, my employer had other plans, and I found myself in a position where I could not return. It was a devastating moment - one that forced me into an unexpected Fair Work dispute.

While the experience was challenging, it became the turning point for me that changed everything. Luckily, I received a payout and I made a decision, instead of fighting to fit back into my old identity that no longer aligned with me, I would create something of my own.

What started as a personal journey quickly resonated with overs. Our products have since been stocked in over 100 stores nationwide, and loved by thousands of customers who are craving deeper moments of self-connection. Through candles, crystals and rituals, mala home has grown into a brand that blends beauty with meaning - helping people carve out space for stillness in their everyday lives.

From a moment that once felt like a dead end to a business that is allowing me to live my dream life this journey has taught me that sometimes, the setbacks we fear the most are actually the beginning to something greater.
